The Mclaren Technology Centre

On Saturday I had the privilege on visiting the Mclaren Technolgoy Centre at Working.

It's hard to explain what it's like. Part Bond movie set, part NASA and very much Mclaren.

We travelled down the VIP road past the lake, you can't see the Centre from the road and it's amazing as you travel down the road and see the building.

We walked down the walk way above the main boulevard where we could see the historic cars dotted around.

Launda's championship winning car, Prost's championship winning car, Mika's championship winning car and Senna's championship winning car plus the car he won his last ever race in.

I had my picture taken with Kimi's Belgium GP winning car.

We walked past the trophies in to the wind tunnel then to the race preparation area. JPM's and Kimi's cars where there fresh from Hungary. Kimi's car complete with FIA seals on the engine. Being able to to touch the cars was amazing.

We saw how they make the parts, like the wings and gearbox's (aprox £90,000 per gearbox!) and then went on to look at where the SLK road car is being made.

Big thanks to Team Mclaren for the tour, its 3 hours I will never forget

On this weeks show we look back at what was total disaster for Formula One. Joining us is Dane Logan from UpdateSport

I think we all found it hard to believe what we were seeing.
Who was to blame? I am sure this is going to run and run.

By the time we recorded the show (Monday) I was not ranting as much as I was on Sunday night.

I can't belive what happened today at the US race.

Just 6 cars race in the most important market for F1 , crazy

A chicane would have worked but the FIA blocked it

Report from a wet Silverstone

Yesterday I went down to the F1 testing at Silverstone.

Present at the tests were all the teams expect Sauber (who where at Monza) and Minardi. I got down there about 11am and watched Pedro De La Rosa, Montoya,Klien and Heidfeld doing some laps.

I noticed that coming out of Woodcote the Williams traction control really kicked in and there was much less TC on the Mclarens.

The Jordan sounded very strange coming out of Woodcote.

I recorded some audio for the Grand Prix Show and got a little mpg video clip of the testing which you can watch here

Another Win For McLaren!

Another Fantastic win for Kimi, McLaren are looking very strong, I haven't seen this kind of pace since the championship winning years of 98-99

Monaco is very hard race but Kimi made it look easy, roll on the next race

At Last Mclaren Wins!

At last a Mclaren wins a Formula One race in 2005.

I renewed my Mclaren membership last week so Kimi's win came at a great time.
After the disappointment of Imola it was a great way to bounce back, Kimi drove a fantasic race, pulling a 25 second lead over Alonso before the first pit stop.

It's a shame Montoya was not up to Kimi's pace.

So it's game on for the 2005 championship, can Kimi get in the to the hunt?
