My Vista video makes YouTube Most Viewed

The Vista XBOX 360 extender video that I posted on Tuesday has gone from a couple of hundred downloads on Tuesday to over 10,000 downloads yesterday. Someone also posted it on Youtube and it has made the Most Viewed with over 3000 views.

It show how despite a lot of negative comments about Vista there is a great deal of interest in Vista, Media Center and the XBOX 360

Running Vista Media Center on my XBOX 360 (with Video)

Last night I played with the extender function of Windows Vista. This is the first time I have got my XBOX 360 working as an extender with Vista.
Using the latest build of Vista (5472) I setup up the XBOX 360 as an extender. The setup was very simple, it seems slicker that the XP version and maybe a little quicker.
Once up and running it looks exactly like Media Center running on Vista, with the new UI and sounds.

I made a little video of Vista Media Center running on my XBOX 360, check out the new mini guide in action as well as the the new sounds

mceBackup 2.0 update

As I posted before,I am working on a update for mceBackup

Well I say update its more of a complete re-write using .net 2.0 and Media Center Markup Language. Its going to a 10 foot application for Vista that enables you to backup your scheduled recordings all via the Vista Media Center UI (plus other settings)

I have actual got an alpha version of the 2 foot version working, a GUI UI and a command line version, and I tested in on XP to Vista and it worked ok. So you could use it if you testing builds of Vista and don't want to setup your scheduled TV recordings every time.

Next week I will make the 2 foot version available to download and please feel free to post question and suggestions either via a comment or on my forums

Producing a CD

Now I finished my CD I was thinking on how to sell and distribute it. I know I am not going to sell many (if any) but its something I have always wanted to do. I know Cafe Press do CD distribution and they have the kind of model I want (ie no minimum quantity) but is there a better service around, is there a UK based one?

Any ideas?

Want to name a track?

As I said in my other post I still have some tracks that need naming for my album.
How about a name for this track?
Either leave a comment or send via email (isdixon at gmail dot com)

Finished My Album - Now what?

So on and off over the last 4 years (and an intensive last 3 months) I have been working on an album of original music. Now that I have finally finished it the question is what to do with it.
Do I setup a myspace account and put out the songs there or as I host my own web site (iandixon.co.uk) do I setup streaming from there?

I would like to sell a couple of CD's just so I can say I have done that.

Does anybody have any suggestions? I still need to name a few of the tracks so any help on that would be good :)

So to give you an idea of what I have recorded have a listen:
  • Over and Over (it has a very long into, but does feature some vocals)
  • The End (properly the last track on the album)
  • Milestone (the first track, I wrote 4 years ago)

More details on the equipment used and how I record soon, and if you have a listen thanks!

KMS Release Calendar for Media Center

One application I have been wanting for a while is a Calender app for the family. I was hoping that would come as a 10 foot UI for the great new Vista Calender, but that is not to be (well at the moment).

  • Set reminders for important events
  • View all your daily appointments at a glance such as; dinner parties, doctor's appointments, kids after school clubs etc.
  • Select your calendar view – daily, weekly, monthly or yearly
  • Quick search your calendar for an event
